House Cleaning & Maid Service

Some people call it house cleaning and plenty of our customers call it maid service. It is the same job: a professional who comes to your home on a set schedule, works through a written checklist, and leaves the place ready to live in. In Laredo the two phrasings behave slightly differently in search -- "maid service" and "cleaning service" pull the larger share of the demand while "house cleaning" is its own smaller pool -- but nobody standing in their own kitchen distinguishes between them, and neither do we.

What separates a real maid service from a one-off clean is the relationship. Your cleaner learns which cabinet holds the glass spray, which rug the dog sleeps on, which bathroom takes the most abuse, and which room your kids are never in. After a few visits nobody is following a generic script -- they are cleaning your house the way you would if you had the time.

Most Laredo households land on biweekly. It keeps a house genuinely clean without paying for visits you do not need, and in a dusty climate two weeks is about how long a house holds its edge.

Weekly makes sense when there are children, pets, or more traffic through the house than a two-week gap can absorb -- and in the neighborhoods where families are largest and youngest, which is most of the south side, that describes a lot of houses. Monthly works for smaller homes and tidy households that mainly want the heavy-effort tasks handled: bathrooms, floors, kitchen, tracks and glass. You are not locked into whichever plan you start with, and households here move between frequencies as the year turns -- more visits through the hot months when the doors and the air conditioning are working hardest, fewer in winter.

The cleaning problem in Laredo is dry, and a checklist written for a wetter climate misses most of it. This is hot semi-arid country: roughly 19.7 inches of rain in a normal year, normal daily highs of about 100 degrees through July and August, and 99 in June. Fine wind-blown dust and caliche grit are constant, and they go everywhere a flat surface will hold them -- tile, window sills, blinds, the tops of doors and cabinets, ceiling fan blades that then redistribute it every time the fan runs.

Air conditioning is the second half of it. In a city where the cooling season runs eight months out of twelve, return vents and register covers load up faster than almost anywhere else, and a house that never has its vents wiped is recirculating what it has already collected. The third is glass: sun and dust together film windows and sliders so they look dirty within a week of being washed, which is why interior glass, tracks and thresholds are line items on our checklist rather than upgrades.

One honest limit. We clean interior glass thoroughly and vacuum carpets and rugs as part of every visit, but we are not a window-washing, carpet-extraction, pressure-washing or duct-cleaning company. If what your house actually needs is one of those, we will tell you rather than take your money for a partial answer.

Laredo is one city that people navigate by side of town, and each side asks something different of a visit. North Laredo above Loop 20 is newer and larger -- median build year around 2003, more than three quarters owner-occupied, mostly two-story with tile through the ground floor -- so the time goes into bathrooms, stairs and hard floor. South Laredo along Cuatro Vientos is similar vintage but generally smaller houses with younger families in them, which usually means a deep clean first and a biweekly schedule after. East Laredo out US-59 is early-nineties stock with a wide range around it, and thirty-year-old grout, tracks and vent covers are where the work actually is. Downtown is 1971-era housing on tight lots, mostly rented, where the job is more often a move-out or a one-time deep clean than a standing appointment.
