Rimrock sits eight miles north of Camp Verde and twenty miles south of Sedona, in the Beaver Creek country at the quiet end of the valley. It is one community under several names: the Lake Montezuma census area, home to about 5,100 people, takes in Rimrock and McGuireville together, and the whole of it is served by one delivery ZIP, 86335.
That naming is worth a sentence, because it confuses deliveries constantly. Mail addressed to Lake Montezuma runs through a PO Box ZIP, 86342, which cannot receive street delivery -- so a house here has a Rimrock street address even when the mailbox says Lake Montezuma. Montezuma Well, a detached unit of Montezuma Castle National Monument, is the landmark most people know, and Beaver Creek runs through the area. It is rural and it skews toward retirees, which means the recurring work here is mostly houses that want the heavy jobs handled on a schedule, plus deep cleans a couple of times a year and the occasional turnover on a rental near the Well.
Because Rimrock is eight miles up the road from Camp Verde, it is an add-on stop on a run we are already making rather than a trip of its own. That is good news for scheduling in a rural area that most cleaning companies treat as too far out.
