House Cleaning & Maid Service

Some people call it house cleaning and plenty of our customers call it maid service. It is the same job: a professional who comes to your home on a set schedule, works through a written checklist, and leaves the place ready to live in. Both phrasings pull the same monthly search volume in this city, which tells you the two words are genuinely interchangeable here.

What separates a real maid service from a one-off clean is the relationship. Your cleaner learns which cabinet holds the glass cleaner, which rug the dog sleeps on, which bathroom takes the most abuse in July. After a few visits nobody is following a generic script -- they are cleaning your house the way you would if you had the time and the knees for it.

Most households in this region land on biweekly. It keeps a house genuinely clean without paying for visits you do not need. Weekly makes sense when there are kids, pets, or more traffic through the house than a two-week gap can absorb -- and in a humid climate, when a bathroom left alone for fourteen days in August is not the same bathroom you left.

Monthly works for smaller homes and tidy households that mainly want the heavy-effort tasks handled: bathrooms, floors, kitchen, tracks and glass. You are not locked into whichever plan you start with, and households here move between frequencies as the year turns -- more often in spring when the pollen arrives and in late summer when everything is damp.

The cleaning problem in this region is specific, and a checklist written for a dry climate misses most of it. Baton Rouge is humid subtropical -- January averages about 52 degrees, July about 83, and the city takes 61.94 inches of rain a year, roughly half again what most of the country gets. What that produces is not dust. It is mildew getting into bathroom grout and silicone, into window tracks and sills, and into the backs of closets that never see moving air. It is grey film building around HVAC registers and vent covers where condensation lands. It is heavy tree and grass pollen every spring on every horizontal surface. And it is mud in the entryway after every storm that comes through.

So grout, tracks, sills, thresholds, vent covers and closet corners are line items on our checklist here rather than upgrades. That is the difference between a house that looks clean the day we leave and one that still looks clean two weeks later. To be straight about the limit: we clean interior glass thoroughly and we treat surface mildew as part of the job, but we are not a mold remediation, pressure-washing, carpet-extraction or air-duct company. If what your house actually needs is one of those, we will tell you so rather than take your money for a partial answer.

In August 2016 a stalled storm system dumped historic rain across this region. A Livingston Parish official estimated that 75 percent of the homes in that parish were a total loss, and the City of Central was among the hardest-hit parts of East Baton Rouge Parish, affecting roughly 25,000 residents. A decade on, an enormous share of the housing in Denham Springs, Walker, Watson, Central and Greenwell Springs is post-flood rebuild: new drywall, new floors, new HVAC.

That matters to a cleaning company in a very practical way. Those owners have already had strangers in their house doing hard work on a bad week, and they are watchful about anything that smells damp -- in a bathroom, behind a closet door, around a vent.
