Sometimes a house needs more than maintenance. A deep clean resets the baseline: inside ovens and refrigerators, behind and under furniture, grout scrubbed rather than mopped over, ceiling fan blades, window tracks, light fixtures, cabinet interiors and baseboards. We move furniture, pull out appliances, and get into the corners a regular visit is not scoped to reach.
Deep cleaning is usually a one-time service, though many customers schedule one seasonally, and it is the natural starting point before moving to a recurring schedule. Getting a house to a proper baseline once makes every visit after it faster and better.
In Savannah it is also the service that most directly answers the climate. Roughly 48 inches of rain a year, about half of it between June and September, keeps bathroom grout, window tracks, laundry rooms and the backs of closets damp enough for mildew to take hold. Then March and April deliver live oak, pine and cedar pollen in volume, and it works its way into sills, tracks, screened porches and every soft surface in the house. Mold spores climb again in late summer and fall. Those areas get the extra time on a Savannah deep clean by default.
Deep Cleaning vs. Regular Cleaning
Regular cleaning keeps a house from sliding backwards: surfaces wiped, floors vacuumed and mopped, bathrooms and kitchen kept sanitary. It is maintenance, and it is scoped and priced as maintenance.
Deep cleaning resets the baseline. We pull the stove out and clean the wall behind it. We take the grates off the vents. We scrub grout instead of mopping over it. It takes several times longer than a maintenance visit, which is exactly why you do not need it every month. Most houses want one deep clean to start and then regular visits to hold the line.
Deep Cleaning for Coastal Humidity and Pollen Season
Two local conditions decide where the extra hours go in a Savannah deep clean.
Humidity first. In a climate that gets about half its annual rain between June and September, moisture does not leave a house so much as move around inside it. Shower grout, window tracks, under-sink cabinets, laundry rooms and closets on exterior walls hold damp long enough for mildew to establish, and a mop-over does not touch it. Those get scrubbed, dried and inspected rather than wiped.
Then pollen. March and April bring live oak, pine and cedar pollen heavy enough to leave a visible yellow film on porches, cars and sills for weeks. It gets into window tracks, screened porches, ceiling fan blades, HVAC returns and every soft surface in the house. A spring deep clean here is mostly a pollen removal job, and it is worth timing for after the peak rather than during it.

Deep Cleaning Historic and Waterfront Homes
An older house downtown and a 1970s house on the water need the same deep clean for different reasons. Downtown it is age: original heart pine, plaster, transoms and deep sills that have collected a century of everything and will not take an aggressive product.
