Regular cleaning keeps a house from sliding backwards: surfaces wiped, floors vacuumed and mopped, bathrooms and kitchen kept sanitary. It is maintenance, and it is scoped accordingly.

Deep cleaning moves the baseline. We pull the stove out and clean the wall behind it. We take the covers off vents rather than dusting around them. We scrub grout instead of mopping over it.
