Monument is twenty miles north of Colorado Springs on I-25, at 6,982 feet with Pike National Forest along its western edge, and it has been one of the fastest-growing places in the region for two decades. The town held 10,399 residents at the 2020 Census and roughly 12,100 by a 2023 estimate, up 88 percent from 5,530 in 2010 and more than five times its size in 2000.
