A guest who booked a lake house for four nights is measuring it against a hotel, and the things they notice are small and consistent: sand on the entry tile, a hair in the shower, a coffee setup picked over by the last three groups, a window they cannot see the water through. Turnover cleaning is a hospitality job with a clock attached, and it is a different discipline from cleaning a house somebody lives in.

We reset the property to a known state every single time: beds made to a consistent standard, bathrooms restocked, kitchen usable rather than merely wiped, entries and hard floors cleared of whatever the last guests walked in, floors done last so nothing tracks back over them, and outdoor space swept. Then we photograph it. If your listing shows a made bed and a clear deck with the bay behind it, the photos we send you should be indistinguishable from the listing.

A cottage is not a small house. Wood floors, wood walls and open ceilings hold dust differently than drywall does, the woodwork has more edges and ledges than a modern room, and the whole building funnels its traffic through one door with a porch and a stack of beach gear outside it. Add a screened porch and a dock and you have a cleaning problem that concentrates at the entry and works inward.
