Shallowater sits twelve miles northwest of Lubbock on SH-84, at about 3,294 feet on the Llano Estacado. It grew from 2,484 residents in 2010 to 2,964 at the 2020 census -- a little over 19% in a decade -- which is steady, real growth for a town this size.
It started as a farm-marketing town, and the cotton gins and grain storage that gave it a reason to exist are still part of the landscape. What it is now is a bedroom community with its own school district and its own ZIP code, which is a meaningful distinction out here. Shallowater ISD has its own identity and a basketball tradition the town takes seriously. Nobody in Shallowater says they live in Lubbock.
That matters for cleaning for a plain practical reason: a fifteen-minute drive each way is not far enough to be a problem, but it is far enough that the Lubbock cleaning companies with four-page websites and no scheduling system do not bother coming up here.
