House Cleaning & Maid Service

Some people call it house cleaning and plenty of our customers call it maid service. It is the same job: a professional who comes to your home on a set schedule, works through a written checklist, and leaves the place ready to live in. Both phrasings pull the same monthly search volume in this county, which tells you the two words are genuinely interchangeable here.

What separates a real maid service from a one-off clean is the relationship. Your cleaner learns which cabinet holds the glass cleaner, which rug the dog sleeps on, which bathroom takes the most abuse. After a few visits nobody is following a generic script -- they are cleaning your house the way you would if you had the time and the knees for it.

Most Galveston County households land on biweekly. It keeps a house genuinely clean without paying for visits you do not need. Weekly makes sense when there are kids, pets, or more traffic through the house than a two-week gap can absorb -- and on this coast, when the doors are open all summer and sand comes in with everybody.

Monthly works for smaller homes and tidy households that mainly want the heavy-effort tasks handled: bathrooms, floors, kitchen, tracks and glass. You are not locked into whichever plan you start with, and households here move between frequencies as the year turns.

The cleaning problem on this coast is specific, and a checklist written for a dry climate misses most of it. Salt film settles on glass, screens, rails and fixtures and does not wipe off the way dust does. Blown sand collects in entries, stairwells, door tracks and the first few feet of every hard floor, and it keeps coming back as long as anybody is walking in from outside. Humidity is the third one and the slowest to show: more than 47 inches of rain a year on the island and 56 to 62 inches inland around Dickinson and La Marque means grout, silicone, window frames and shaded exterior surfaces hold moisture long enough for mildew to take hold.

So glass, screens, tracks, sills, thresholds and grout are line items on our checklist rather than upgrades. That is the difference between a house that looks clean the day we leave and one that still looks clean two weeks later. To be straight about the limit: we clean interior glass thoroughly, but we are not a window-washing, pressure-washing or carpet-extraction company, and if what your house actually needs is one of those we will say so instead of taking your money for a partial answer.

A large share of the housing on this island belongs to somebody who is not standing in it, and a closed-up house is not a clean house. Humidity keeps working while nobody is home, dust arrives through vents and door seals, and anything left in a pantry has months to become a problem.

For owners who are away, we run the same checklist on a recurring schedule, get the house opened up and ready before you drive down, and give you a plain account of what we found -- including the things that are not cleaning problems. One honest limit: we are a cleaning company, not a home-watch or property inspection service.
