Bushkill is the closest concentration of rental inventory to East Stroudsburg -- 12.4 miles and about 21 minutes north on US 209 -- and it is the clearest example in this market of what a private community actually is. Saw Creek Estates holds nearly 3,000 properties behind its own gate, with 24-hour public safety patrols and video surveillance, a private ski area with a chairlift and snowmaking, four outdoor and two indoor pools, indoor tennis and two lakes. Ski Shawnee, with about 500 employees, is nearby. Tamiment is in the same township, where The Glen has more than 400 homes. Monroe County Transit Authority's Yellow Line runs out this way.
