The housing runs in three distinct bands, and each one wants a different visit. Downtown and Moss Bay hold condos and townhomes at close quarters -- lots of glass facing the water, compact kitchens, shared entries, and buildings that decide their own access rules. What actually makes a Kirkland house dirty is the water and the trees rather than dust. From October through May this is a wet town, and the wet arrives through the doors: entry floors, the first several feet of hard floor inside them, mats that never fully dry, and mud off the Cross Kirkland Corridor, off Juanita Beach, and off every dog walk in between.
