Kiwi Cleaning works the Eastside: Bellevue at the center, Kirkland to the north, Redmond to the northeast, Sammamish across the lake of the same name, and Issaquah where the valley runs up into the Alps. Our cleaners work these five towns -- this market opened because the crew was already here, not because a map said the demographics looked good.

More about Bellevue

Neighborhoods, local conditions, and how we work here.

Bellevue is about 154,000 people and nothing like the bedroom suburb the name still suggests to anyone who has not been here in twenty years. It incorporated in 1953 and spent the last two decades growing a downtown of its own, with a park at the middle of it that has a half-mile canal and a waterfall in the middle of the towers. What that growth means for a cleaning company is that the housing here is not one thing. It is three, and they want three different visits.

Downtown and the corridors beside it are high-rise and mid-rise condos: floor-to-ceiling glass, compact efficient footprints, and buildings with their own rules about how a service crew gets in and where it parks. Lake Hills, Newport, Eastgate and Factoria are largely 1960s and 1970s ramblers and split-levels -- original bathrooms, older grout, carpet that has seen a lot of Novembers. Somerset, Bridle Trails and the Cougar Mountain and Lakemont side hold the larger newer houses: real square footage, hardwood through the main floor, and enough glass to show every mark. Those are three different jobs, and we would rather quote each one honestly than pretend one number covers them all.

The climate sets the terms here, and it is the opposite of the problem our desert markets solve. Nothing about the Eastside is dusty. It is wet. From roughly October through May it is dark and damp, and a house takes that on in specific places: entry floors and the first several feet inside every door, mats that never quite dry, coats and boots, the mud that comes off trailheads and dog walks and school runs, bathrooms that do not air out, and the north-facing sills and closet corners that stay cool the longest. There is no road salt here and no snow grime -- winter is grey and wet rather than white -- so the cleaning that pays off is the cleaning that keeps damp from settling in. Then spring arrives and the conifers take over: a long pollen season that lays a fine film on sills, glass and every horizontal surface near a window.

The other thing shaping the calendar is churn. Eastside employers move people in and out constantly -- the Microsoft campus is one town over in Redmond, and the towers here keep filling -- so hard dates are a steady part of our week rather than a seasonal spike. A lease end, a closing, a tenant arriving on Saturday: our move-in and move-out work is written for somebody with a date on the calendar, not for somebody browsing.

What we clean most, though, is ordinary and good: a family home on a weekly or biweekly schedule whose owners would rather have their Saturday back. Bellevue Downtown Park, Mercer Slough, the Lake Hills Greenbelt, Coal Creek and the Eastrail are all a few minutes from somebody's front door here, and people use them -- which is exactly why nobody wants to spend the dry hours of a weekend on the bathrooms.

Every page on this site exists in Spanish as well as English -- the same pages, not a summary -- and you can request a quote, agree a scope, set a schedule and raise a problem in either language and get the same answer either way. Nobody else working this metro publishes a word of it.

Kiwi as a company is new to Washington, and we would rather say that plainly than dress it up. What is not new is the crew: our cleaners already work these towns. What travels with the company is the part that does not depend on tenure -- a written 42-point checklist that every visit follows, eco-friendly products that are safe around children and pets, all supplies and equipment brought to the job, and the Kiwi Clean Guarantee: if a clean is not right, we come back and reclean it free within 24 hours, no fine print.
